Overview
The project provides for the upgrade and/or replacement of the existing 150-kV lines between the Obfelden substation, the planned Waldegg substation and the Samstagern substation by means of a 380-/220-kV line. The grid project will permanently improve the energy supply to the consumer centres of the City of Zurich and the Thalwil region. In future, the two substations at Thalwil and Waldegg will be redundantly connected to the Swiss transmission grid. Following the commissioning of the new line, the 110-kV line between Obfelden and Thalwil and the Samstagern substation will be dismantled.
Project
Schweikrüti (pylon 46) – Kilchberg section
After the Federal Supreme Court had sent the planning approval dossier for the Schweikrüti–Kilchberg section back to the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE), the latter mandated the construction of an overhead line. Appeals against this ruling have been filed with the Federal Administrative Court. This overhead line is to include Swissgrid’s 380-/220-kV line and the SBB’s 132-kV railway power line. As a compensatory measure, Axpo’s 110-kV line between Obfelden and Thalwil will be dismantled.
Kilchberg – Frohalp section
The SFOE has mandated that the Kilchberg – Frohalp cabled section be exempted from the sectoral plan process. The project is currently being further developed as part of the construction project. The planning approval dossier for submission to the Federal Inspectorate for Heavy Current Installations (ESTI) is in preparation.
Frohalp – Waldegg section
The Federal Council has defined the planning corridor for implementing an underground line in the sectoral plan process. The construction project is in preparation.
Teilabschnitt Waldegg – Obfelden
The preliminary project for the Waldegg–Obfelden section is in preparation.
